When life is giving you lemons – squeeze it! and… add to the water. But what if water with lemon is still “plain” for you? We have for you a rich taste which will also help you to reduce your daily sugar intake!

During our busy lives many of us often reach for different types of drinks – they are widely available, easy to buy and consume – unfortunately they contain high-value of sugar.  To illustrate, you can easily check your drink by reading the label on the back, remembering that one teaspoon of sugar weights 12g – this is around 50kcal. How many those drinks do we have during the day? this question is worth asking yourself.

During the year we travel to visit often to meet our clients around the world. This time we are again in Thailand working outside where the temperature is much higher then in Lanzarote and the humidity is reaching almost 90% with sweat we loose a lot of liquids including valuable electrolytes – not having a lot of choices of bottled water here (to little choice and not rich with minerals) we have to find another source of nutritional consumption.

This time instead of lemon life brings us COCONUTS – we don’t squeeze them, but we drink them straight after opening.

Coconut water is a drink which is obtained from young, still green palm fruits. Trees get from soil the water necessary for its growth, rich in minerals. During the whole journey – from roots to the fruit – the fluid undergoes repeated filtration and also purification, at the end the water is sterile clean and rich in necessary micronutrients.

We have highlighted some of them¹:

  • Helps to replenish electrolyte deficiencies (rich in potassium, magnesium, sodium, calcium);
  • Reduce muscle tension and decrease stress level;
  • Lowers blood pressure;
  • Cleansing and detoxication;
  • Helps to lower cholesterol;
  • Source of vitamin C and from group B;
  • Fibre source (helps digestion);
  • Improves blood circulation and reduces the risk of heart attack and strokes;
  • Promotes anti-inflammatory action ²,³;

I know that we cannot always buy a fresh coconut and enjoy its water but nowadays it is easy to find a carton on supermarket shelves. The coconut water goes straight from the fruit under sterile condition without loosing its properties – but before you buy make sure that there is nothing adding extra and quickly check the label!
We will be sure to stock up when we return home as we are already feeling the benefits here in Thailand.
